I figured I would post this since I was recently discussing this game in another post. I was honestly gravitating towards this only because of the possibility of a multiplatform sequel. This was Microsoft’s “Ace-in-the-Hole” That never really had a chance because it instantly turned off many gamers, myself included, on its “online-only” multiplayer gameplay. Titanfall had its fans on Xbox 360 and Xbox One, probably sold its fair share of consoles for the next generation. And maybe even kept the 360 in a few homes longer because of the chance to experience it. The problem was in my eyes was the hype didn’t last for all you got in the package. A very ambitious project for sure, and in many ways, once I got my hands on it, I could see why people still play today. A very intriguing take on the shooter, where even on foot, you don’t quite feel like their Modern Warfare counterpart.

The soldiers, felt different, reacted different, and forget the immersive camera swipes every time you go for a wall jump, dash, or run. It works without truly disorienting the player, something important when changing perspectives. Now I am not going to sit and write a review here, but I feel I should note that with my time on Xbox One, I did check this out, and left impressed. But hungry, almost seething.

The first time you watch a Titan “fall” is a sight to behold, especially when it happens elsewhere on the map but still in your vision. It becomes a lion’s feast of gamers going after the demise of someone, to capitalize on the kills surrounding the chaos. There was a different design to the game that seemed to make all the changes to multiplayer someone wanted. One problem, what do I do when I am bored with multiplayer? That is where I drew the line. However since recent reports are suggesting a sequel with more emphasis on the complete package, I’ve become interested. They may have listened to me that day in chat on Xbox One… Not likely, but me and a couple other gamers were discussing the ability to have a co-op story, even challenge-based missions like in Modern Warfare 2 would be enough to keep us happy. Imagining the awesome set pieces could create, we were in shock they didn’t want to go there. But we kept playing until it was time to move onto something else.

So when the talks of the sequel were started, this was of course one of the first questions in my head. And I am happy to say they see this as a necessity, imagine the possibilities. I know I for one played Call of Duty more for the Campaign than the online, occasionally zombies, but meh. I start reading and continue to notice mentions to gamers, and wanting a complete package, or a better experience. Okay so I’ll get to why this is important to me. PlayStation 4. Having something that was previously on Microsoft’s flagship, jumping into multiplatform to bring the game to the side with more consoles in homes. Doesn’t sound like bad business to me. I for one am anticipating quite the shift in consoles entirely. But I wouldn’t get too excited, something tells me Microsoft will still get first crack. And I am betting PlayStation owners will get some kind of combined arsenal package with features from the Original Titanfall like skins, weapons, etc. People want continuity these days, if Evolve is any indication, this would be a move that wouldn’t surprise me at all. So I am sure now after EA made the announcement, and West and Zampella are talking, albeit very little; more will come on this one.
