Want to make Amiibo customs at home? You don't want to risk destroying them in the process though. Well here is a neat trick to customize your Amiibo in just a few minutes! Start by coming up with a plan and determining if your Amiibo can in fact be morphed into another shape. (Bigger and more solid figures may not be able to do this) Then put away the heat-gun and read this...

Step 1:

Fill a microwave safe cup with water and place in microwave oven for 3 minutes at 1100 watts. Hi Power. This will bring the water to a boil (You may have to adjust the time or power levels depending on the microwave). DO NOT PUT THE AMIIBO FIGURE IN THE MICROWAVE.

Yes I did that with water... The one on the left is in the Giveaway! See @TheDesolate_9 on Twitter!

Step 2:

Using something to remove the hot cup of now boiling water, you should place it on the counter. At this point it is imperative you have a plan and the tools you will use to hold the pieces in place. DO NOT USE TAPE. It will heat up and ruin the finish. I used rubber bands while submerged and my fingers (after submersion) to hold the pieces in place. At this point, once rubber bands are set, use tongs (I recommend with rubber on them for grip) and grab the base of the Amiibo figure, and submerge into the boiling water.

DO NOT SUBMERGE THE BASE (Although if you do, the "Bag of Rice" trick works great!)

Step 3:

Leave it in the water for about 2 or 3 minutes, watching a timer carefully. The goal is to heat the Amiibo figure completly through so the limbs are posable. At this point, if you have rubber bands in place, leave them.

I do not recommend doing this with a stove-top method only because of risk of dropping the Amiibo.

I molded the legs, arms, and spines to flare out. All with Hot Water and Patience... And done in 5 minutes!

Step 4:

When you have achieved the desired look you will have to run the tap water on cold and after positioning the remaining parts of the figure with your fingers, you can run it under cold water; Effectively locking the figures position! You can now prime to paint, or leave it as is. You are now the proud owner of a unique Amiibo figure to use in your Nintendo games like Super Smash Bros. on WiiU!

Step 5:

Admire the Amiibo YOU just created! And if you have paint skills, you can rock a fresh coat of awesome on to the character! Share your picks on Instagram and follow me @ desolate.9 for more of my customs! I'm going to get busy after this... I wonder how long I would have to submerge Donkey Kong to get those big arms up in the air... LOL

Enjoy experimenting with this and thanks for reading!
